Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

Make Your Home a Little Safer

This week’s assignment is to focus on clutter dangers in your home, then take an action to improve those issues.

To accomplish this week’s task, we’d like for you to address the first item on the following list that applies to your situation. (For extra credit, keep going down the list until you’ve completed them all.)

  • Clear access to all of the exits from your home. Remove anything that would prevent your using any door or window as an escape route in an emergency.
  • If your exit routes are already clear, focus on removing any obstructions on the floor that make it difficult to move freely through your space.
  • If your floors are already free and clear, focus on making sure that the location of your fire extinguisher offers quick and easy access in case of a fire. (This would also be a good occasion to check the condition and recommended replacement date of your fire extinguisher. Or if you don’t have a fire extinguisher, then now would be a great time to invest in one.)
  • If your fire extinguisher is in good condition and suitably located, then your assignment for this week is to read (or re-read) the instructions to familiarize yourself with how your fire extinguisher works.

Hello All, Successfully completing 2 of this weeks Tittle prompts #1: I re found my 2 new fire extinguishers purchased prior this years 4th of July holiday and set them up for use in kitchen and laundry room. Duh.
#2: Then as I cleared this weeks empty, 3-food stuff boxes stored right inside my back door, I discovered what was left of a young, very dead and dehydrated rattle snake stuck to one box-bottom. Contacting my local store we all agreed to how these critters are looking for water, food, shade where ever they can find it. I sent pictures to Ed and Gayle to offer awareness and support as this is a safety issue for us all as we de clutter our homes. Right? Thank you Gayle and Ed and to each of you. Marsh.
