Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

Put a Product to Work

This week’s assignment is to find a use for an organizing product or tool that you already have in your home.

  • Look through the house for an organizing product that you bought but haven’t used anywhere yet.
  • Think about the original purpose you had in mind. Will the product still work for this purpose, or did you buy it just because it was cool? If it’ll work as intended, then deploy it.
  • If the product was just a cool thing that caught your attention, then take another look now with a more critical eye. What problem can it solve or what space can it improve? Use it there!
  • If you don’t have a use for the product, it’s time to put it in your area for gifting, donation, or recycling.
  • If you don’t have a surplus, unused organizing object, good for you! Instead, take inventory of hot spots where organizing products we’ve talked about today might solve a problem. Could your pantry or kitchen drawers use some help? What about a closet or bedroom door? Your book cases or book shelves? Consider whether any of our ideas might help you make better use of a troublesome space.
